Driver killed in N12 head-on collision
The exact cause of the collision remains unknown and is under investigation by EMPD officers.
An accident claimed the life of a motorist on June 30 when a hatchback collided head-on with an articulated truck on the N12 westbound just before the Holfontein Road off-ramp.
Emergency services from the Etwatwa and Springs fire stations responded swiftly to the scene.
Rescue teams had to use specialised hydraulic rescue equipment (Jaws of Life) to extricate the entrapped driver of the light motor vehicle but he succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

According to EMPD media liaison officer, Thabiso Makgato, the truck driver escaped unharmed.
“Both directions of the freeway had to be temporarily closed during the rescue operations,” said Makgato.
The exact cause of the collision remains unknown and is under investigation by EMPD officers.
