Foreign national nabbed for illegal fuel trading in Putfontein
Counterfeit diesel and paraffin worth over R4 000 were confiscated during a raid that followed a community tip-off.
The EMPD Community Liaison Unit, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, arrested a foreign national for trading diesel and liquid paraffin without a petroleum wholesale licence in Putfontein on July 15.
Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a property in the area and arrested a 33-year-old Mozambican national after he failed to produce a valid trading licence. Authorities uncovered seven 1 000-litre fuel tanks, 300 litres of counterfeit diesel with an estimated street value of R3 000, 150 litres of paraffin valued at approximately R1 050, and a generator.

During questioning, the suspect was also unable to provide any form of identification or documentation proving his legal status in the country.
He was detained at the Putfontein Police Station and faces charges of illicit trading and being in the country illegally.
