Cuppa for Cansa hosted with pinch of Hepburn style

“A woman’s best accessory is confidence.”

Dressed in iconic black and white ensembles, 220 women gathered at Pinnacle College Rynfield on Women’s Day (9 August) to support Tanja Spencer (Face Facts, Boksburg) and Dr Angela Murphy (specialist physician at Netcare Sunward Park Hospital) at the 12th annual Cuppa for Cansa tea.

Channelling their inner Audrey Hepburn, attendees donned their ultimate Breakfast at Tiffany’s glam to raise funds for Cansa and East Rand Palliative Care (ERPC).

“Hosting this event, our primary aim is to raise as much money as possible for charities assisting those bravely facing cancer diagnoses,” said Tanja.

“We also endeavour to create an opportunity for ladies to meet and socialise with kindred spirits, leaving the hustle and bustle of everyday life at the door.”

Quoting the iconic actress and style icon, Angela reflected: “The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.

“As a woman matures, her body undergoes inevitable changes, and her outlook on life shifts with every stage,”

Angela added. “It is essential during these stages that we lean on the support of other women, creating a distinctive sisterhood built on care and compassion. Womanhood is a journey best shared.”

Image consultant and owner of Ultimate Image in Kempton Park, Ciska Jansen, echoed these sentiments, offering tips on dressing according to shape and colouration.

“Finding your style starts by looking holistically within yourself, identifying parts of your soul that need healing,” she said.

“Your style must express your personality and send a message to everyone you meet. You can wear the most stylish outfit, but if you don’t feel at your best, the outfit won’t carry the same message.”

Ciska continued, “When a woman unlocks her confidence and embraces her true being, she can wear even a simple black bag with flair. When you are comfortable in your skin, the world won’t notice what you’re wearing but how you’re wearing it.”

“Face that mirror, look at the body that God so painstakingly created, and let your true spirit shine through. A confident woman will always be the best dressed.”
