Rebranded, Hospice shops still offer same value

The Hospice Shop now has a new name.

The Rynfield Hospice shop, now rebranded as the East Rand Palliative Care (ERPC) charity shop, has become one of the organisation’s first outlets to undergo its exciting name change.

Unveiling its new name on February 28, ERPC aimed to distance itself from the stigma that the organisation exclusively offers end-of-life care.

“We have been serving patients facing life-limiting and life-threatening diseases, as well as their families, with compassion, dedication and specialised care, since 1986,” said committee chairperson Con Roux during the rebranding celebration, which had been in the pipeline since 2023.

“We have evolved, branching out into comprehensive and holistic palliative care.”

Extending its new look throughout its service footprint, the 10 ERPC charity shops in Benoni, Boksburg, Edenvale, Germiston and Kempton Park are set to adopt the new branding.

“While the sign may be different, our commitment to the community remains the same,” said ERPC Charity Shop co-ordinator Blaine Groenewald.

“Located at 17D Waterson Street, the Rynfield shop has long played an important role in supporting the work we do. Every donation and every purchase helps us provide palliative care to those who need it most.”

Carefully tending to the treasure trove of quality pre-loved items, store manager Rhona Wilmans said every donated and sold item has the potential to assist registered ERPC patients and their families to navigate the uncertain waters of a life-threatening and life-altering diagnosis.

“We endeavour to offer patrons a memorable shopping experience at affordable prices,” she said.

“The signage on the window may have changed, but we remain committed to raising much-needed funds to ensure that ERPC can provide knowledgeable and compassionate care.”

Whether you want to make a donation or are looking for bargain-priced pre-loved clothing, books and household goods, visit the Rynfield Charity Shop, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 12:00.
