Crystal Park man who killed partner to be sentenced next week

The accused briefly appeared in court on August 22, but the matter was postponed due to the unavailability of his attorney.

The man who stabbed his partner Sibongile Mochadibana at their home in Crystal Park in January 2023, is expected to be sentenced in the Benoni Regional Court on September 1.

The 39-year-old victim died after she was stabbed in the upper body, reportedly following an argument with her partner.

According to police, after the attack, the man fled the scene in Mochadibana’s vehicle and withdrew money from her bank accounts.

That same night, a tracking company located him and three other men in a veld in Kliprivier, and they were arrested. One of the men was identified as a traditional healer. The men were later acquitted of the case.

Her mother, along with her 10-year-old son and her sister’s child, was reportedly inside the home at the time of the incident.

The accused briefly appeared in court on August 22, but the matter was postponed due to the unavailability of his attorney. His previous appearance on August 11 was also postponed.
