Dancer chuffed with performance at dance world cup
She finished seventh in her section.
Local dancer Saige Margoczi says she is filled with pride and gratitude after finishing seventh in her category at the Freestyle Dance World Cup in Blackpool in June.
It was only her second appearance at the global showpiece, and she described breaking into the top 10 as a massive improvement from her debut outing.
“I worked hard. Coming seventh was a big achievement because my section had a lot of talented dancers. I’m proud of myself,” she said.
The 15-year-old Lakewood Tutor Centre learner said she sacrificed a lot in the build-up to the competition and was happy that it all paid off.
“It felt amazing. I competed against 40 incredible dancers, and being in the top 10 felt great. There was lots of feeling and a big build-up of emotions, and I let it all out on the dance floor.”

Reflecting on her performance, Margoczi revealed that her choreography drew inspiration from her late father, while also standing as a testament to the years of dedication and sacrifices she has poured into chasing her dreams.
“I dedicated the dance to my late dad who passed away three years ago. He would have really been proud of me. The choreography was a build-up of everything in my life – my achievements and everything I’ve worked towards,” said Margoczi.
She started dancing at the age of five and enjoys it because she can express herself freely on the dance floor.
“I’ve always loved it and have lots of passion for it.”
