Indians trio to represent SA in world cup qualifiers
This tournament will determine who will represent the continent at next year’s U15 baseball world cup in Italy.
The Benoni Indians’ Joshua Cook, Riley Long and Tatum White have been selected to represent South Africa at the U15 World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup African qualifiers in Kenya this December.
The trio is part of Coach Paul van der Merwe’s 20-man travelling squad, which includes 11 players from the Western Cape, eight from Gauteng and one from the Eastern Cape.

Logan Gardner is among the eight non-travelling reserves, while the Indians’ junior coach, Gareth Long, will serve as assistant to Van der Merwe. This will be his second tour as assistant coach, following his stint at the World Cup in Colombia last year.

The Benoni Indians’ junior chairperson, Cliff White, said: “Congratulations to the players who have made the team. To the non-travelling reserves, keep training hard.”
