WATCH: Elethu Home hosts successful charity walk

Elethu Home of the Physically Disabled manager, Khaya Mnyandu, said the charity walk was a success, achieving both fundraising and community-building goals.

Staff, friends and beneficiaries of Elethu Home of the Physically Disabled paraded through the streets of Daveyton on October 9, cheered on by onlookers during the society’s charity walk from Sinaba Stadium to the finish line at Elethu Home.

The charity walk was supported by the Benoni Retired Nurses Forum, Boitumelo Home-Based Care: A Legacy of Excellence, and Boot Culture Fitness Studio, whose members also participated in the walk.

Before setting off, the group energised themselves with a fun aerobics session led by Boot Culture Fitness Studio instructors and then participants were safely escorted by a Daveyton SAPS vehicle throughout the route.

The youngest participant, Ditheto Mmopane (6), was excited to take part in the Elethu Home of the Physically Disabled charity walk on October 9 in Daveyton.

Elethu Home of the Physically Disabled manager Khaya Mnyandu said the charity walk was a success, achieving both fundraising and community-building goals.

“We are aiming to purchase a JoJo tank. During the rainy season, we’ve noticed that a lot of water goes to waste, so we want to store and save it for use at the home.

“Our wish list also includes buying a generator to help during power outages so that our residents won’t be left in the dark,” Mnyandu explained.

Mnyandu expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported and participated in the event, extending special thanks to Boot Culture Fitness Studio for sponsoring T-shirts and water for all participants.
