SANBS wants your blood

Enjoy a steak to boost your iron levels, but leave the wooden stakes at home, it scares the dedicated SANBS staff.

Whether you call them phlebotomists, bloodsuckers or vampires they will not take offence, they simply want your blood.

Spooky season is upon us, but the staff at the Northmead SANBS Donor Centre promise not to get too creepy when collecting life-saving blood supplies from eligible donors.

Roll up your sleeve, sink your teeth into a decadent biscuit and save a life.

A single donation could save the lives of three recipients in need.

This is not a trick, but visiting the donor centre with its vibrant staff is sure to be a treat.

Donors must weigh over 50kg, be between 16 and 75 years and lead healthy lifestyles – even if they occasionally indulge in garlic.

The SANBS donor centre is on 2 Fourteenth Avenue, Northmead, and is open from 10:00 to 18:00 daily and 08:30 to 14:00 on Saturdays.

For more information, contact 011 897 4951.
