The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and the SAPS Police Emergency Services made the following arrests from October 17 to 26.
Possession of drugs
• A 55-year-old man was arrested on October 17 after members found three bags of dagga. Patrolling BFS members saw the suspect sitting under a tree next to the N12, at the Tom Jones off-ramp, and a search of the suspect’s goods revealed dagga with an estimated value of R10 000.
• Four men were arrested in separate incidents in Etwatwa and Kempton Park after they had meth and mandrax in their possession.
Hijacking
The members recovered a hijacked Nissan UD truck in Sunward Park, Boksburg, shortly after it was taken, on October 19.
BFS members received information at 13:30 about a hijacked truck in Benoni, and that a member of a private security company was hot on its heels. Making its way from Snake Road towards Boksburg, they stopped the truck tactically in Kingfisher Avenue and arrested the two occupants of the vehicle. They recovered a 9mm Norinco pistol with four live rounds inside the cab.
