Be part of a Halloween fundraiser in Rynfield on Friday to help cancer patient

Several local businesses are already onboard to ensure the fundraiser for cancer sufferer Dr Etienne Viviers is a success on October 31.

Benonians are invited to take part in a special fundraiser on October 31 in support of musical academic Dr Etienne Viviers, who is currently battling myelofibrosis, a rare form of bone marrow cancer.

The fundraiser aims to help cover Etienne’s mounting medical expenses and improve his quality of life.

The initiative was sparked by local musician and Q The Music owner Warren Quirk, who approached Etienne’s mother, Anna-Marie Viviers, with the idea of organising a community-driven fundraiser.

Etienne was diagnosed with myelofibrosis two years ago—a disease typically seen in individuals over 65. His condition is further complicated by Crohn’s Disease and Crohn’s Arthritis, with treatments for the latter believed to have triggered the onset of cancer. As a self-employed academic, Etienne has faced significant financial strain due to his deteriorating health and escalating medical costs.

The venue for the event has been generously sponsored by The Barn @ Bohemia, and the evening promises a vibrant celebration of music, unity, and hope.

There will be live music performances, a drumming circle, a photo booth, and Halloween-themed festivities (yes, dress up!).

All proceeds from the event will go directly to Etienne to assist with his medical journey.
