Crime in Brief
Operations have been ramped up in the lead-up to the festive season.
The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) made these arrests and recoveries between December 2 and 4.
Copper cables
On December 2, officers helped the Benoni CPF arrest two men on charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cabling. A Mazda BT50 was stopped on Benoni Road, Jatniel, and officers found cables valued at R100 000.

Possession of controlled medicine
A man in Kempton Park on December 4 was found transporting three boxes of pain syrup without valid documentation. His Chevrolet Aveo was stopped after patrolling BFS members saw it speed through a stop street. Officers confiscated medicines valued at R5 000.

Possession of drugs
• Following up on information that a Scania truck was transporting drugs to Mpumalanga, BFS members stopped the vehicle on the N12 Atlas Road off-ramp on December 4. They found four large bags of compressed dagga, valued at R40 0000 in the truck and arrested three people.

• Two men were arrested in Brakpan and Kempton Park after meth and mandrax were found in their possession.
