Women make a splash for charity

Swimmers waded their way to making a difference.

Northmead’s Infinite Swim “aqua ladies” made waves on December 6 with an Aqua Fun Day in aid of the Benoni SPCA.

An article in the Benoni City Times prompted an afternoon of fun, which included aqua aerobics, water meditation, and splashing game sessions.

“Through aqua aerobics, we exercise our bodies while spending time with good friends,” said instructor Sue Cunningham.

“Doing what we love, we used the opportunity to spread festive cheer to an organisation that works tirelessly to look after the city’s animals.”

Using everything from doggy-paddle to breaststroke, the group of women raised R6 200 and a generous donation of dog and cat food.

“We had loads of fun and hope that our contribution will have a positive impact on the SPCA,” said Sue.
