Be aware of runners in these areas during Johnson Crane Marathon

The marathon and half-marathon are sold out.

Motorists on the route of the Johnson Crane Marathon on January 25 are urged to be patient and exercise caution when thousands of runners take part in the 43rd edition of the event.

Several roads in the CBD, Western Extension, Farrarmere, Lakefield, and Westdene in Benoni, and Atlasville, Beyers Park, and Impala Park in Boksburg will be affected as around 13 000 runners will cover kilometres on some of both towns’ busiest streets.

The event, well attended due to the route’s flat and fast profile, will welcome thousands of runners and walkers from around the country who will take on the 5km, 10km, 21.1km, and 42.2km race distances.

The marathon, which will see many runners attempt to qualify for the Comrades Marathon, and the half-marathon are sold out.

Both the 42.2km and 21.1km start at 05:30, and the 10km and 5km follow at 05:45.
