Church, after-school programme donate toiletry packs

The Benoni Central Methodist Church, in collaboration with the Komane-Frank After School Programme, recently handed over more than 20 toiletry packs to former matric learners heading to university this year.
The initiative aims to provide learners with basic necessities as they begin their tertiary studies.
Due to the overwhelming need, the donors decided to extend their support to second- and third-year learners.
According to Lebo Dolamo, from the after-school programme run at the church, the toiletry drive was intended to help learners start this new chapter of their lives with dignity.

“We wanted to kickstart their university journeys on a positive note by ensuring they have essential items as they settle into campus life,” said Dolamo.
Parents also collected the packs on behalf of their children, who had already begun orientation at their respective universities.
Dolamo said the success of the initiative was made possible through generous donations from members of the community.

Cathy Chambers from the church expressed her appreciation to those who contributed.
“A huge thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause. This collaboration highlights the power of community spirit in uplifting and supporting local learners as they prepare for their future,” said Chambers.
