Police are urgently appealing for assistance in tracing a man wanted in connection with a rape and robbery case reported at Etwatwa SAPS last month involving an 18-year-old woman.

According to police, the suspect is believed to be between 18 and 21 years old.

He allegedly followed the victim and started speaking to her while she was walking in Emaphupheni, then demanded her cellphone and dragged her into the bushes, where he forced her to undress and raped her.

Police described the suspect as being between 1.59m and 1.65m tall and slender, with pimples on his face, pink lips and brown, round eyes.

He had a short haircut, spoke isiZulu, and was wearing a navy blue T-shirt on the day of the incident.
Police added that they have recorded several cases with a similar modus operandi and are investigating whether the incidents are linked.

The police urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Mbali Samela, of the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on 082 822 6715 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
