With a sprinkling of Irish luck, the Benoni Lions Club took big steps to help young cancer patients on March 14.
Dressed in their St Patrick’s Day best, the local club hosted the Big Walk for Young Warriors at The Parks Fresh Produce and Pizzaria in North Villa.
“The fun walk forms part of the district’s project to raise funds for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa,” said club president Verity van Zyl.
“As a club, we have opted to donate the funds raised through our Christmas cake sale, as well as all proceeds from today, to CHOC. Thus far, the donation stands at just over R13 000.”
Young, old and furry came out in support of the 2.5km and 5km fun run, making a tangible difference in the lives of children fighting cancer.
