CAXTON SCHOOLS: Spectators bring the ‘gees’ at St Dunstan’s Sports Festival

Day two of the festival is electric.

Day two of the St Dunstan’s Easter Sports Festival, is off to an exhilarating start.

Armed with camp chairs and sunblock, supporters are flooding through the gates in support of their favourite teams.

Cheering from the bleachers, Mawande Nzama (17) of Curro Salt Rock said the festival has thus far been the highlight of the hockey season.

“I am having the time of my life. The competition has been great and I am enjoying supporting all our teams,” she said.

Dribbling a soccer ball, St Dunstan’s College ball boy, Alwande Dzanibe said he is proud to support his team both on and off the field.

“Our boys are looking great and have smashed their games so far. They’re in fantastic shape,” he said.

In contrast, planning in advance is key for most parents.

Supporting her two nieces from KwaZulu Natal’s Curro Salt Rock, Yolandi du Plessis said she knows they need to have a cooler full of drinks so that they stay hydrated during the duration of the festival.

Shelter Bero, supporting her son, Anesu Bero , from Howick High School, beamed saying that she is happy that she can support her child, while he does what he loves.

Pamela Munatsi was excited to be supporting her son and nephew, Tapiwa and Andre Munatsi from Heritage school and CBC Boksburg.

She said that the rugby season keeps her on her toes but she is happy to show up for them and looks forward to these activities.
