Brentwood Park business engulfed in flames

No injuries were reported.

Parts of the transformer manufacturing and refurbishing company, on Road 5, Brentwood Park, was destroyed during an industrial fire, just before 17:00, on June 19.

According to City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), media liason, Tikkie MacDonald, traffic along Great North Road, was diverted as a precautionary measure, while fire fighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

“The cause of the fire has not yet been established and investigations are currently underway,” he said.

“The fire was successfully extinguished and the site was declared safe.”

The Benoni City Times visited the property this morning (June 20), however employees declined to comment, stating that they were grateful that no injuries were reported.

“We are awaiting the outcome of the investigation,” said one representative, who wished to remain anonymous.
