From September 4 to 13 the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Police Emergency Services (PES) arrested 125 suspects.
BFS
Possession of drugs
Ten suspects aged 18 to 40 were arrested on drug-related offences.
Arrests were made in Ivory Park, Kaalfontein, Rabie Ridge, Clayville, Etwatwa, Daveyton, and Emaphupheni.
Meth, heroin, Mandrax and cocaine were recovered.
Possession of suspected stolen goods
Four women, aged 33 to 44, were arrested in Etwatwa on September 10.
During routine stop-and-search operations, officers instructed the driver of a white Toyota Etios to stop.
While inspecting the vehicle, the male driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the four occupants behind.
Inside the vehicle, BFS officers found various grocery items, suspected to have been stolen.
The items were booked in as exhibits and the vehicle was impounded.
Pointing of a firearm
Two men, aged 36, were arrested in Thembisa after it was alleged that they had pointed a firearm at the victim.
Vehicle recovery
• A red Volkswagen Polo was recovered in Rabie Ridge; it was reported as stolen in the same area.
• A grey Mercedes GLC was found in Norkem Park, reportedly taken during a house robbery in Randburg.
Police Emergency Services (PES)
From September 4 to 10, the Police Emergency Services (PES), including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 109 suspects across Gauteng.
The operation resulted in:
• 39 arrests for serious crimes including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, murder, attempted murder, driving under the influence of alcohol, contravention of a protection order, pointing of a firearm and contravention of the immigration act.
• Recovery of 39hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Ten arrests were made on charges of having these vehicles.
• Two suspects were arrested for having unlicensed firearms. Two weapons were seized
• 58 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
