Two brothers were arrested following an alleged assault in Crystal Park on July 4.
According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, EMPD Bronberg Precinct officers, in conjunction with Crystal Park SAPS detectives, launched a tracing operation, which led to the duo’s arrest on July 6.
“It is alleged that the pair, one of whom is the father of the complainant’s child, arrived at her Crystal Park home to drop off her child,” said Thepa.
“A verbal altercation between the victim and an unknown woman, who was waiting in the vehicle, ensued.
“The two men proceeded to assault the victim, forcing her to the ground and kicking her.”
The property owner intervened to bring the commotion to an end.
“The two were detained at Crystal Park police station following their arrest,” said Thepa.
“Incidents of domestic violence are strongly condemned. We urge all GBV victims to report all incidents to local authorities in an effort to bring an end to the scourge of violence.”
