Dump site coping amidst refuse debacle
“I ask that residents remain patient while this matter is being addressed.”
Staff at the Hospital Street Dump, Northmead, is coping with increased numbers of residents disposing of their uncollected domestic refuse.
While the refuse removal backlog is set to continue for another two weeks, Ward 27 Clr Lornette Joseph has commended the site’s new contractors, Waste Partners, for ensuring it is clean despite the increased amount of accumulated refuse.
“During this time, the Hospital Street Dump has at times seemed like it is bursting at the seams but the staff has been friendly and helpful, doing their best to get the site cleared,” she said.
“Trucks are constantly coming in to clear skips and the staff have been helping residents to offload their vehicles, doing exceptionally well considering the site is still under construction.”
She reminded residents that due to the increased demand on various dumping sites, domestic dumping has been capped to ensure that the sites do not become overfull.
“Vehicles are permitted to dump three bins per trip, limited to three trips per day,” said Joseph.
