The Benoni Garden Club proudly presents a Hanging Basket Workshop, to be held at the Lavender Post Nursery, 259 Uys Street, Benoni, from 14:00 to 16:00. Cost: R50 Members and R60 Non-Members. For bookings contact Jay 083 325 2379 or Katinka 082 541 7050.

September 20
East Rand Bird Club meeting will be held in the main hall of the Country Life Retirement Village in Brentwood Park, at 19:00. (Please take note of the new venue). Presenter: Atto Schmidt (on video). Topic: BirdLife South Africa’s epic voyage to Marion Island. Visitors are welcome. For more information contact: Awie Coetzee 083 677 7097.

October 1
Benoni Art will exhibit at the CR Swart Park, Sarel Cilliers Street, Rynfield, in combination with the Ebotse Market, from 9:00. For more information contact Gusta for details 083 383 2605.

October 11 (second Tuesday of each month)
The popular group known as the U3A, an international group which caters to retired people seeking company and entertainment, will host their meeting at the Northfield Methodist Church in Aerodrome Drive, Northmead, every second Tuesday of each month, at 10 am. The fee is R50 per year, and R10 for tea. Everyone is welcome

October 22
La Vie Care, in collaboration with Fedics, will be hosting a “Welcome to the carnival” themed family fun walk at Country Life Retirement Village, from 09:00 to 12:00. Residents, as well as their families, will participate in this race. The community is invited to also partake in the fun walk. R10 entry fee for those who wish to enter the fun walk itself. Should you wish to just attend the event, entry is free of charge.
