CGA sends strong team to national cross country champs

The selected CGA team comprises household names like Johannes Morepe, Cacisile Sosibo and Andries Sesidi.

Central Gauteng Athletics has selected a team of over 380 athletes to represent the province at the National Cross Country Championships at Bersig Academy sports fields in Rustenburg on September 17.

The selected CGA team comprises household names like Johannes Morepe, Cacisile Sosibo and Andries Sesidi who have represented the country and province at competitions including World Athletics U20 Championships in Columbia, CAA African Championships in Mauritius earlier and SA 10km championships.

Sesidi will be caring the CGA flag at the championships.

Other contenders, who will fly the provincial flag, are the athletes who showcased great potential throughout the seven CGA cross-country leagues including Farida Zwane, Hanekom, Tyran Brooks and Chelsea van Dyk.

CGA’s president Steven Khanyile said they look forward to exciting and outstanding performances from all CGA athletes.

“We would like to wish all athletes the best of luck as they continue to train and prepare for the championships,” he said.
