Ashton International College obtained a 100% pass rate in the 2022 IEB matric exams with 93% of learners obtaining bachelor’s passes.
The school achieved a total of 83 distinctions.
Four leaners obtained seven distinctions, three celebrated six while two achieved five.
Tayla Walther achieved six distinctions and she was also in the top 1% for mathematical literacy. She’s is going to the University of Pretoria to study commercial law. “I’m shell-shocked. When I saw the results, I couldn’t believe it. I know I put in the work and studied for long hours but it’s still unbelievable,” she said.
Principal Lynne Felix said she is proud her learners and wished them well for their future endeavours.
“Across the board in international Grade Six examinations, IGCSE in Grade 10 and IEB and CAIE in matric, Ashtonians have once again achieved outstanding results.
“We applaud our staff, students and parents on their commitment to excellence and their dedication to their studies,” said Felix.
Ziya Idris obtained six distinctions (Afrikaans, English, geography, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics) and is happy her hard work and commitment have paid dividends. Ziya is going to study veterinary sciences at the University of Pretoria. “I’ve always had a passion for animals,” she said.
The school’s top four students with seven distinctions each are:
1. Lindiwe Sepamla (top 1% computer applications technology) 86.26%.
2. Henry Fang 85.63%.
3. Muhammed Patel (top 1% life sciences) 83.75%.
4. Marco Geral 83.14%.
Muhammed Patel obtained seven distinctions (accounting, Afrikaans FAL, English HL, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and physical science) and is in the top 1% for life sciences.
Alexi Taliotes achieved five distinctions (accounting, geography, life orientation, mathematics and physical sciences).
Onthatile Rankeng obtained five distinctions (English, Afrikaans, geography, business studies and life orientation). She said it's still surreal as she wasn't expecting to get any distinctions. “I'm shocked. I wasn't expecting anything. I left so much room for disappointment. I'm so proud of myself,” she said. Onthatile will be studying accounting at University of Stellenbosch.

Henry Fang achieved seven distinctions (accounting, Afrikaans FAL, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical science and further studies mathematics).
