Ekurhuleni prepaid system will be down

The metro apologises for any inconvenience the downtime may cause.

The City of Ekurhuleni has announced that its prepaid electricity system will go down citywide on March 4.

That means customers will not be able to access the service to purchase electricity between 14:00 and 20:00 on Saturday.

This applies to all the platforms, including online and points managed by third parties like retailers and banks.

The system is expected to be up and running immediately after the six-hour downtime.

Metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the planned downtime is arranged to allow technicians time to carry out much-needed upgrades on the system.

“The upgrades will ensure uptime and stability of the vending system and all its technicalities,” he said.
