FOLLOW-UP: Investigators follow up many leads in Alphen Park murder
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects is urged to come forward.
Investigations continue in the murder of Alphen Park resident Ernst Wepener (34) on April 5.
Wepener was shot and killed in front of his wife and children when four men entered their home on Homestead Street in a suspected house robbery.
Information received from Danie Day of Danie Day Private Investigators, whose services the family enlisted, said the white Volkswagen Caddy (FJ 28 XJ GP) used by the suspects had cloned number plates that belonged to a similar model.
“We were inundated with calls from community members with information regarding this case,” said Day.
“Investigators are following up on all the leads, which we hope will yield results about the perpetrators.”
After verifying the information, arrests would be imminent, but because of the investigation’s sensitivity, he could not divulge any further information.
“We aim to not only bring those responsible for killing Ernst to book but to ensure they are caught before harming another,” Day said.
