Duo apprehended for possession of a reported stolen motor vehicle

When the officers requested valid documents, no proper documentation of the car could be presented.

EMPD Bronberg precinct officers arrested two suspects for having a reported stolen vehicle in Crystal Park on July 13.

According to the EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, members conducting a crime prevention operation received information at 10:00 about a suspected stolen vehicle spotted in the area.

The grey Renault Fluence, matching the description of a vehicle reportedly stolen in Swellendam, was spotted and cornered on Pretoria Road.

The two men alleged they bought the vehicle for R15 000 from a European couple in Boksburg.

The stolen car found in Crystal Park was allegedly sold in the Boksburg area for R15 000.

The occupants could not present officers with documentation to validate their claims.

“The officers arrested the duo and charged them for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle,” said Thepa.

“They are expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.”

The officers impounded the vehicle at Aeroton police yard for safekeeping.
