Education department condemns incident at Unity Secondary School
The department said the principal has apologised to the affected learners and parents.

The principal of Unity Secondary School in Daveyton recently came under fire for allegedly posting the names of learners who failed in term two on social media.
They halted teaching and learning last week as disgruntled learners protested inside the school premises demanding the removal of the principal.
Videos of the protest have been making the rounds on social media.
The Gauteng Department of Education has strongly condemned the misconduct at the school.
According to spokesperson Steve Mabona, the principal unreservedly apologised to the affected learners and parents.
“We condemn any misconduct by anyone, which seeks to undermine the dignity of our learning institutions,” Mabona said.
“We continue to remind educators they should lead by example to ensure that learners mirror their conduct in creating safe school environments, conducive to effective learning and teaching.”
