Local pool player heads to the nationals

Dyantyi will be playing for the seniors team at the championship held at Western Cape Ultimate Pool Union Centre in Cape Town.

Professional pool player Akhona Dyantyi is pleading for donations to help him get to Western Cape to represent Gauteng in the South African Black Ball Pool National Championships in September.

The championships will be held at the Western Cape Ultimate Pool Union Centre in Cape Town where the 38-year-old will play for the seniors team. The Daveyton resident needs donations to cover travelling expenses including accommodation, transportation and food.

Dyantyi, who is affiliated with the South African Bridge Federation (SABF) Gauteng, an NPO, said each player is expected to raise about R11 700 to cover all expenses.

“Any amount is highly appreciated. The donations will give me a better chance of going to England if I participate in the national championships. This will also help to achieve my dreams and goals,” he said.

Dyantyi added that this will be his first time competing on a national level.
