Legal Aid SA brings festive joy to children at Sithabile Centre
Candidate legal practitioner Lindiwe Sibeko, from the Benoni Local Office, said the organisation deliberately chose Sithabile after identifying a need.
Legal Aid South Africa delivered an early festive surprise to the Sithabile Child and Youth Care Centre in Putfontein on December 5 with a substantial donation of toys as part of a nationwide call to support vulnerable women and children.
The generous donation included dolls, teddy bears, books, scooters and several other items aimed at brightening the lives of the children housed at the centre.
The initiative comes in response to a request from the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, urging institutions within the justice sector to support shelters that provide safety, dignity and holistic care to vulnerable groups.

Legal Aid SA’s toy drive forms part of its broader commitment to strengthening community support systems, promoting child well-being and enhancing the restorative impact of shelters across the country.
Candidate legal practitioner Lindiwe Sibeko, from the Benoni Local Office, said the organisation deliberately chose Sithabile after identifying a need.
“This is our way of giving back to the community, especially because we deal with matters involving children. We strive to be a voice for the voiceless,” she said.
Centre co-ordinator Mzwakhe Hlatswayo expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gesture, saying the donation brought hope and recognition to the work being done at the facility.
