Benoni Flying Squad (BFS)
BFS officers arrested six suspects, aged between 21 to 36, on drug related charges.
Arrests were made from March 6 to 9 in Kempton Park and Brakpan.
Mandrax and meth were recovered.
Police Emergency Services (PES)
From February 27 to March 5, the Police Emergency Services (PES), including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 105 suspects across Gauteng.
The operation resulted in:
• 40 arrests for serious crimes including assault common with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, house robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an illegal refinery, possession of house-breaking implements, malicious damage to property, theft, housebreak-in, possession of imitation firearm with intent to commit crime, domestic violence, human trafficking, attempted hijacking, possession of counterfeit goods and contravention of the immigration act.
• Recovery of 31 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Nine arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.
• Six suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Five weapons were seized
• 50 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroine, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
