Golden Drive, Morehill, a call for help.

"Concerned" of Benoni writes:

I am appealing for help regarding Golden Drive, in Morehill, Benoni.

I, personally, called on the person at the Ekurhuleni transport office in Golden Drive and begged for assistance in the matter of repairs to this road, as there are sections in bad repair.

Opposite one of the transport companies, potholes are so sharp that we have to drive on the right-hand side of the road.

After I saw Edwin, who is in charge of repairs, the following day, only three potholes were repaired in the drive-way of their offices.

The entrance of this road should be repaired properly and should be dug up and re-laid.

I asked a councillor serving on the municipality, who also spoke to Edwin, but to no avail.

More than 160 companies are based in this road, apart from other traffic.

We all pay taxes and vehicle licences.

“This is non-delivery of services.”

Can you please assist? We just don’t know where to ask for help now.

It is bad enough that the construction company cannot complete construction of bridges on Snake Road, which were supposed to be completed at the end of March.

If they can afford to pay so many penalties, then we must assume that the taxpayer was charged far too much for this construction.

Go to any country in the world; I went to bed in Germany and woke up the next day to find a complete road retarred and ready for use.

The construction company should send some if not all their engineers abroad for training to save a lot of expense and inconvenience for motorists.

Editor’s note: Ekurhuleni spokesperson Sam Modiba responded as follows: “An instruction has been issued to the relevant department to urgently attend to these potholes. The metro apologises for the inconvenience this has caused.”
