Wordsworth Road one-way is a total joke

“Fed up with Wordsworth Road” writes by email:

I refer to the article which appeared in the Benoni City Times dated Friday, August 8, entitled “Waiting for an accident to happen”, which dealt with the situation in Wordsworth Road, passing Wordsworth High.

Well, I travel down this road daily in the mornings and sometimes in the afternoons.

The one-way running north to south during given hours is a total joke. When I say joke, I mean it, vehicles, cars and taxis loaded with “learners” think it is hilarious to disobey the law.

The vehicles go against the one-way, do U-turns, block the passage of other vehicles and so on.

They laugh and think it is a huge joke.

However, as pointed out in the article, it is no joke, and sooner rather than later there will be a serious accident or an incident of road rage.

Either the one-way street is done away with or the law enforced.

Really to have it as it exists at the moment is unacceptable and makes a mockery of law.

The situation cannot be allowed to continue.

Just while on this stretch of road the “learners” need to “learn” not to litter and the school should encourage, if not make them, keep the pavement outside the school and its environs clean and free of litter.

The intersection of Main and Tom Jones roads, where the grass area is, is filthy enough.

Just a pity we cannot get rid of the beggars at this intersection, while we are about it.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
