Is Ekurhuleni really the cleanest city in Gauteng?

Lesley Silber writes by email:

I hope that I can send the Ekurhuleni Municipality my doctor’s account for injuries when I fell off my chair.

Please tell me that I am not the only one with this injury… Ekurhuleni voted the cleanest city in Gauteng? Does the mayoral committee have eyesight problems?

Benoni is filthy beyond words, the intersection at Atlas Road and North Rand Road is a dumping ground for takeaway containers and everything else that can fit out of a car window.

The inner city is absolutely appalling. Take tips from Boksburg, they at least pick up their litter.

The Benoni sides of Atlas and Mercury roads are disgusting, to say the least.

Is no one concerned about the new squatter camp growing daily in the dumping ground on Ridge Road?

When I moved to Benoni it was, indeed, the Jewel of the East; words fail me as to what is has disintegrated into.

Please get real and wipe the fog from your eyes committee and council members, and earn this award.

Maybe, just maybe, this insertion in the Benoni City Times was a joke and I took it seriously.
