Fixing the leaks would help

Sadia Patao writes by email:

With the current “water shortage”, surely if the municipality fixes the leaks just around Farrarmere there should be no shortage.

Please go and look at Elsie Street and see what the road looks like and the poor attempt to fix the leaks.

That road has more potholes than the off-road mountain bike track we ride. At the bottom of Tugela Road there is a leak that has not been attended to for nearly a month, it is currently leaking.

Why are we paying rates and taxes if the facilities are not being maintained?

We have low water pressure all the time and sand and dirt coming through our water, out of the taps. Every six to 12 months this causes burst geysers and, try talking to the staff at the municipal offices — just no joy.

We cannot touch the trees on the pavements, but the roots are lifting my driveway.

I have requested and threatened but to no avail. No trimming or no inspector sent to assess.

All they can tell me is to come and fill in forms for the damage.

In today’s terms and the current job market can a person really afford to take a day off to get sent from pillar to post?
