Concerned by traffic in Benoni Plaza pedestrian area

Eric Dlamini writes by email:

I would like to write about the concern of the vehicle traffic at the Benoni Plaza:

A month ago my brother, who is a newspaper vendor, was walking at the Benoni Plaza in Cranbourne Avenue, opposite the Absa Bank, which is behind the Benoni Plaza .

He was knocked down by a speeding vehicle driven by a Nigerian citizen.

He phoned me about his accident and, on arrival, I phoned the EMM ambulance service and was told the ambulance would arrive two hours later, because it was still in Etwatwa.

Other ambulance services like ER and 911 and Maponya arrived, but they charge about R2 000. which we could not afford.

I would like to plead with the municipality (EMM) to close off that road because it is only people who are suppose to walk there.
