It’s a disturbance of the peace

I fully agree with Ian’s gripe regarding excessive noise levels at these sporting events.

It is totally unacceptable that suburb ratepayers have to endure these selfish PA announcements and music in the early hours of a Sunday morning which, in my opinion, classifies as “disturbance of the peace”.

As Ian mentioned, surely the organisers of these events should understand that they are visitors to the area and that their sporting activity causes substantial disruption to traffic flow, so much more respect is required, particularly by the traffic marshals and participants.

Like Ian, I have also had to endure long waiting times at intersections, verbal abuse and dirty looks when exercising my right as a motorist, while still having to ensure the safety of everybody on the road.

In conclusion, in order to keep mutual harmony, I trust the organisers will realise the disturbance these sporting events cause and will then ensure this is limited, by reducing noise levels, better training of traffic marshals and educating competitors to show more respect for fellow road-users.
