No water during load shedding

Danica van Greunen writes by email:

I live on Webb Street and every time there is load shedding we will be without water.

My husband has to open taps to let air out the pipes as the water comes out in bursts with small stones and sand.

This is a lot of water that we have to waste before we can have clean running water.

We actually have to keep water in buckets for the toilets.

I have an 11-month-old baby and four-year-old.

I have to bath them with water left in the flask that we keep because of load shedding.

I can’t send them to bed dirty as they have to get up early to go to nursery school.

There is no time in the morning to bath them.

Not even mentioning water for food or dirty milk bottles and dishes.

I run a business from home and need water.

I also have to use the bucket system.

I have on numerous occasions reported this to the Ekhuruleni call centre.

I have the dates and reference numbers.

I also called Clr Gerrie Kriek and he said there is nothing he can do.

The generator that is supposed to switch on the pumps at the reservoir is not switched on.

He suggests we keep water in buckets.

As rates and taxes payers we expect the water to be switched on.

Water is a life supply.

I can live without electricity but not water.

The excuse of the pumps not working is nonsense.

Get them fixed.

My husband has owned this property for almost 22 years and says that ever since load shedding has started this has been a problem.
