Why the oxymoron?

Les Dicks writes by email:

I could not help but recall an old saying, “Doctor, heal thyself”, when seeing this page in the City Times (dated November 12).

While we see contractors “rendering” services, flouting numerous statutory Acts and regulations, while working on behalf of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), they have the audacity to issue “threats” that they are going to get “tough” on by-laws.

Who takes responsibility in the EMM for issues like the one reported in the article titled “Municipality blamed for months of water wastage”?

Maybe the person responsible at the EMM, making the threat in the article “EMM to get tough on by-laws”, should first get “tough” on the responsible (or is it irresponsible) people in control of these issues who are working at the EMM.

People who live in glass houses should really not throw stones.

It’s time that the residents of Benoni make a commitment (not a threat) to stop accepting substandard levels of compliance and service from EMM and remember these issues when the elections take place next year.
