We would like to thank Jane Trembath and the Korsman Conservancy committee for their amazing effort and expertise in “resurrecting” and improving this unique bird sanctuary, in Westdene beyond recognition.
Send your letters to bctletters@caxton.co.za.
Many people have been involved and have spent their spare time and also donated money.
Thys Venter was one of the initiators.
We are ever so grateful to all concerned.
There are raised benches for viewing or photographing, a sturdy fence (thank you Benoni Town Council), neatly kept grass verges, information boards, “poop” bins, even owl and bat houses.
There is open grassland where thousands of foreign weeds and shrubs have been cleared by volunteers.
The birdlife in the park is awesome with many beautiful sightings to be made.
Where so many parks have been neglected in Benoni, you have truly been a “Lead South Africa” example.
You can be proud of what you have achieved.
Benonians, do yourself a favour: go and enjoy this tranquil gem.
