I live on one of the main access roads into Farrarmere, which is generally a busy road.

I have noticed for some time now that Community Monitoring Service (CMS) patrolmen in their cars are speeding excessively up and down our roads with no hazards or emergency lights on.
This poses a risk to the surrounding community as we often walk our dogs and children in and around the neighbourhood on these roads.
I would like to appeal to them to drive at the legal residential speed limit and adhere to the rules of the road.
I can understand if speeding is required if it is an emergency, but then all the applicable warning lights on the vehicles should be on and clearly visible to warn fellow pedestrians and motorists.
Editor’s note:
CMS management replies:
“Thank you for your letter.
“The provisions of the Road Traffic Act are quite clear and all staff members are fully aware that they must abide by the speed limits in their respective areas of work.
“In any event that a member is observed not adhering to these rules, we would welcome the community to inform us of the specific incident so that we can take the necessary steps.
“The safety of our community is always a matter of importance to us and we are grateful for any assistance received from the community to better our services.”
