Return Benoni to its former glory

Glynis, of Farrarmere, writes:

George Farrar, George Rennie, Harry Mabuya, Morrie Nestadt and more, would be totally disgusted with their once beautiful town.

They put so much time, effort and interest – and in some cases their own money – into the once-flourishing gold mining town – they must be turning in their graves.

Every time I drive through Benoni town I cannot believe the filth and overgrown pavements.

Ekurhuleni, please bring back some pride to our beloved town.

This will bring back tourists to admire the once famous Christmas lights, beautiful parks, lakes etc.

This can be a challenge to all business people too.

We celebrate Benoni’s 110th municipal year in September/October and it would be lovely to see our town transformed to what it once was.

I agree with last week’s letter headlined ‘Mr Mayor, we need answers’.

I logged a complaint about Blyde Road that has terrible potholes, but nothing has been done in three months.

Benonians would love to see their town restored to its former glory.
