Illegal dumping needs to stop

Editor's note: Comment was requested from the Ekurhuleni metro, but none had been received at the time of publication.

Lynette Glass writes:

I would like to complain about the illegal dumping that constantly takes place in the veld on the corner of President Hoffman Road and Uys Street in Rynfield.

This is the veld between St Dunstan’s College and the Netcare Linmed Hospital.

I am so sick of picking up rubbish dumped at the entrance to the veld by other people.

Every week our complex gardener and I run around with a bag collecting other people’s rubbish just to try and keep the area looking neat.

We look after the whole verge on both sides of the road, and it is a big corner complex, so this takes time. It’s very disheartening once it’s been tidied up only to be littered again by irresponsible and lazy people.

There are signs warning that it is illegal to dump in the veld, but every week, black bags and other rubbish is dumped.
