“The past few months have been hard for everyone, as we had to adjust to a new normal that we never prepared for.
“We have to walk around wearing masks. I cannot count the amount of times I had to go back to my car because I forgot my mask before going into a shop.
“Sanitising my hands has now become second nature and hearing another person has tested positive for Covid-19 happens on a daily basis.I have to be honest and say that, yes, I started drinking the ginger and lemon combination and am feeding my children oranges every opportunity I get.

“‘With all the crazy going on I just want to encourage residents to support local businesses during this time as much as possible. I understand that we all want fancy masks to spice up our outfits or to be noticed, and in most cases the old lady who has been sewing for years can make you a few masks that will make you look good every day of the week – and she will ensure the mask has three layers.
“Everyone has also resorted to selling sanitiser and some are taking chances by overpricing and not selling the proper product, but we have really good sales people within our community who are doing this for the sole purpose of ensuring they have food on the table.
“I am also encouraged by the generous efforts of many organisations to ensure those less fortunate have something to eat. I would like to challenge residents to help where they can and to remember that in most cases when you help someone you do not need to take your camera along.
“I stand for doing good deeds in silence as those have a greater impact on the person receiving the donations. We will get through this eventually, and do not forget to sanitise your hands and wear those masks wherever you go.”
