Lovgren stars at German Friendships
Forrest Lovgren (16), of Ekurhuleni Equestrian Centre in Benoni, represented South Africa at the recent 2013 German Friendships, in Herford, Germany, recently.
During the German Friendships, each international rider was paired up with a German partner who provides their team partner with a horse.
The pair then train together and compete together against the other teams.
This is done in order to promote international teamwork and communication and to celebrate a common love for horses.
Lovgren was paired with Anna-Sophia Schumacher in the team named Allerdinas.
“I was provided with a wonderful grey horse, Vuberta, who was just so similar to my horses back home,” said Lovgren.
The young showjumper and her German partner managed to achieve third place out of 48 countries in their grade, and won the overall German Friendships event on the final day.
“I learned a lot in Germany,” she added.
“It was an amazing experience where I learned about different riding styles and controlling different horses.”
Lovgren added that she felt privileged to represent South Africa at such a prestigious event.
