Little Miss becomes a Mrs

Benoni’s national superbike racer, Janine Mitchell, tied the knot with Dan Davies on September 7, in a wedding ceremony with a difference.

The superbiker, affectionately known as Little Miss 79, was married at ZIR Coffee and Car Wash, in Benoni.

The couple, who met at a boxing gym in Boksburg, had pizza as their main course, accompanied by singing and a fun atmosphere.

On the racing front, the newlywed will ride for Team Emtek Yamaha SA this season.

“Yamaha has not been competing in the national circuit for a few years now, so it was truly an honour to be on a team with them,” she said.

“One of my teammates, Robert Portman, is another local man, so we are making Benoni proud.”

Another exciting thing that is happening this year for the local petrol head is that she has been approached by FIM Women in Motorsport, to serve as an ambassador in Spain.

Davies, along with Nicole van Aswegan and Loumarie Grobler (the only three 600cc female national riders in South Africa), will take part in an official women’s riding training camp, where they will put their skills to the test and ride against other women in Albacete, in Spain.

The trio will depart for Spain on October 4.
