President’s team claims a double

The Eastern Cricket season came to an end on Sunday, March 23, with a number of leagues and competitions decided on the final match day.

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s President’s League team was the standout senior side for the club this season, after winning both the 40-over and T20 leagues.

The club thanked Rajan Naidoo for helping the team win the league and congratulated all the players.

Zunaid Seedat, Actonville’s public relations officer, reserved special praise for three 15-year-olds, who stood out this season.

They are Mekyle Pillay, Jarred Naidoo and Divish Patel.

The club also had 10 players selected for the Eastern Cricket Winter Academy Programme, EJCCA Teams and Invitational teams.

They are Muhammed Teladia (EJCCA u-12 team, Academy Team), Saahil Khan (EJCCA u-13 team, Academy Team), Mekyle Pillay (EJCCA u-15 team, Academy Team), Amit Patel (EJCCA u-13 Invitational Team, Academy Team), Mohammed Raees Khan (EJCCA u-13 Invitational Team), Kaveer Seecharen (EJCCA u-17 Invitational Team), Amaan Khan (Academy Team), Nabeel Teladia (Academy Team), Jarred Naidoo (Academy Team), Muhammed Umar Shabuddin (Academy Team).

n Meanwhile, Actonville’s Premier XI won their final league match of the season against United Cricket Club’s by 94 runs and collected an important bonus point to finish the season mid-table – a huge improvement from the previous season’s bottom-of-the-log finish.

“The club would also like to thank all our members for their efforts this past season and wish everyone all the best in the off-season,” added Seedat.
