Faul claims fourth old bird win

The Benoni Homing Society's birds took off from Springfontein this week.

The Benoni Homing Society basketed their birds for the first race of the middle distance on Thursday, July 24.

The race took place from Springfontein, about 525km away.

The young birds were liberated at 7.30am and the old birds at 8.15am.

Noel Quantrill clocked the first young bird home at 12.38;20pm at a velocity of 1 677.355mpm, and Jaco Faul clocked the first old bird at 1.18;18pm, at a velocity of 1 691.906mpm.

This marked Faul’s fourth season win.

The results of the Springfontein race are:

  • Young birds results: 1 Noels Lofts 1 677.355mpm, 2 Jaco Faul 1 677.161mpm, 3 Frik and Colyn Nel 1 675.975mpm, 4 John Field 1 672.780mpm, 5 John Field 1 669.084mpm.
  • Old bird results: 1 Jaco Faul 1 691.906mpm, 2 Jaco Faul 1 684.409mpm, 3 Andries Smal 1 681.448mpm, 4 Jaco Faul 1 681.007mpm, 5 Andries Smal 1 680.542mpm.
