Crystal Park SAPS media liaison officer Tryna Maritz said a break-in at the Cloverdene premises was reported on Monday morning.
On arrival, SAPS members spoke to the security guard who said he had noticed the gate to the storage facility was open when he arrived for work.
Upon inspection, the SAPS discovered that the locks on 16 units locks were broken. They also found a bag containing 1 141 rounds of ammunition. and two live rounds on the floor in the guard house.
The security guard who was working the night shift is still missing.
A case of malicious damage to property was opened at the Crystal Park SAPS.
Nothing was reported stolen.
